About Us

The creation of 4 Leaf Rover was inspired by a trip taken by Dr. Susan Burkhart to the Turks & Caicos Islands in December of 2020. There she witnessed the harsh conditions under which homeless dogs, known as Potcakes, are forced to survive. She instantly fell in love with this unique, intelligent, and resilient dog breed and set out to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of homeless animals back home too.

Our Mission

4 Leaf Rover was created with the goal of improving the lives of dogs and cats that are lacking the most basic necessities. With this in mind we host neuter and medical clinics, find forever homes, provide food, and basic supplies to improve the quality of life and chance of survival for these forgotten animals.

How your donations help?

With your generous contributions 4 Leaf Rover is able to bring help to areas where the need is greatest. This is done by hosting spay and neuter clinics, and providing wellness and sick/injury care to all animals in need. We are grateful for every contribution and every amount helps!

What is a potcake?

A Potcake is a mixed breed dog found on several islands in the Caribbean. Their name comes from the congealed peas and rice mixture that local residents traditionally eat, as the overcooked rice that cakes to the bottom of the pot is frequently fed to these strays. Often homeless and in desperate need of veterinary care the overpopulation of Potcakes in the Caribbean islands is a serious issue which can be improved with neuter campaigns and medical clinics.
